WHAT YOU'LL FIND ON FISHIN' SECRETS
Please take the time to thoroughly investigate our website...you'll be glad you did!

It is loaded with pictures of nice fish of just about any freshwater species you can imagine...from cutthroat trout to carp, from wipers to bluegill. You'll find great advice to help you catch fish just like these. If you are more interested in salt water, check out some of the outstanding photos from our group!

Some pages are very serious, while others are there just to make you laugh. We have pages dedicated to kids fishing, and others for women anglers. We have pages for people who prefer to fish in lakes and ponds, and another for those who like to walk the bank of a river or stream. There are pages targeting fishing from boats, inflatable craft, and float tubes. Fly fishermen have their own pages. Same for ice anglers. How about a page that tells stories about fishing with man's best friend...his dog. You'll see pages for warmwater fishing, and others for coldwater...pages for fishing in the high country, and some dedicated to camping while fishing.

We talk about fishing etiquette, and allow you to let out your frustrations on our "Schmuck of the Day" pages. There are pages for tall tales, for funny stories, and some for scary stuff you talk about 'round the campfire. Lure fishermen have their own pages, as do those who prefer to use bait. We even have pages for "Making Your Own Fishing Gear".

Fishing links you will find on the main site are very cool, and worth your time to check out. We do have a basic link exchange on the back side, so if you are interested in reciprocal links just get in touch.

And finally...Probably our most popular feature is The New Fishin' Secrets Forum, which is limited to only a small group of very serious anglers. If you would enjoy being a part of a fishing forum that is dedicated to helping others improve their skills, and where drama is not allowed, we'd like to hear from you.

So have fun looking through Fishin' Secrets! We're serious when we say that you who take part in our site are what make it so great...we truly would love to have your fishing pictures, fishing articles, fishing advice, or whatever to be included on this site. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have comments or suggestions. Thanks, again for visiting Fishin' Secrets!

FIFTH EDITION NOW AVAILABLE!!!
fishinsecretswebsite001036.gif
fishinsecretswebsite001035.gif

How many times have you planned a trip to an ordinarily terrific Colorado fishing spot only to find that today it’s not so great? Do you keep casting or just give up and go home?  Maybe you’ve been in the area, and are familiar with some other local bodies of water that might hold fish.  If that’s the case, you will probably give those places a shot.

With Colorado’s Ultimate Fishing Guide in your possession, you no longer have to rely on your memory of an area to try to save the day.  Now you have the ability to find several options of quality fishing waters near your initial choice.  Our spreadsheet format makes it simple. You just decide whether you want to tackle streams or lakes.  Maybe you’re focused on catching a particular species of fish.  With Colorado’s Ultimate Fishing Guide, you can very quickly see which of the waters near you hold that species.  The key here is speed and simplicity.  No more reading through page after page of information, just to try to find what you’re looking for.

The next step is to pull out your Colorado Atlas and Gazetteer, Mapsco Roads of Colorado, or  Colorado Road and Recreation Atlas. Find the spot you’ve chosen on the map, and you’re there.  When combining the maps of these fine publications with the specific fishing information of this guide, you have everything you need to have a wonderful time exploring new fishing waters.  You may also want to go to the map first, and then check Colorado’s Ultimate Fishing Guide to see if the spot you’ve chosen is listed. If the body of water you find on the map isn’t listed in this guide, we could find no documented proof of fish being present. That doesn’t mean they’re not there, but your chances of success will go up substantially if you choose waters in our guide.

This guide is also terrific for planning a trip.  Again, in very little time you have the ability to choose an area, and the bodies of water you want to target.  Maybe you decide to head up to Steamboat, and fish the Yampa in the morning, Stagecoach in the afternoon, and end the day on a small high elevation brookie lake.  No problem, just look in the Steamboat area of Colorado’s Ultimate Fishing Guide for a lake that holds brook trout at a higher elevation.  You can even see if you’ll need to hike, or if the water is right next to the road.  It’s all up to you, and very simple.

Only with the editable version you can sort all of these bodies of water any way you desire, and add columns for more information.  You will also find links to websites for each fishing spot with additional data, including info related to directions, topos, and aerials.

These are just a few ideas of how to use Colorado’s Ultimate Fishing Guide.  The last major updates are included in the soon to be released 5th Edition.  You will find many bodies of water that are not shown on any printed map, so using any of the online topo and aerial sources becomes absolute necessity.

Introducing Fishin' Secrets 2008 Angler of the Year
Crowning of the ultimate Fishin' Secrets angler for 2008...

Rules...  An angler must submit reports from 20 bodies of water that that member has never laid eyes on, much less fished...  The angler who submits the most enjoyable posts from those 20 spots... not necessarily the most or biggest fish... will be crowned Fishin' Secrets angler of the year!

You got it...  The catch is important, but the story is what it's all about...  Pics, comedy, smiles, and of course surprising catches will weigh heavily on the outcome...

The Final Decision...

Although many Fishin' Secrets members had tremendously successful years, when weighing all factors one star shown particularly brightly.  This member started the year on top of his game when it came to warmwater fishing, but was relatively inexperienced when it came to trout and kokes.  By the end of 2008 this guy had become a literal phenom when targetting coldwater species!  Some of us old dogs learned much watching him in action and reading his spectacular reports.

I am proud to introduce the Fishin' Secrets Angler of the Year for 2008
